Bright Dapple Bridal Makeup
Bride in a lace gown holding a loose garden bouquet in soft morning daylight

Studio & on-location artistry

Makeup that still looks like you at midnight.

Bright Dapple is a two-artist bridal studio working in daylight finishes — skin first, pigment second, built to hold through a long, warm, photographed day.

Spring and autumn 2027 dates are open. Peak Saturdays in April, May and October tend to go first; a date is held once a trial is booked.

The index

Four finishes we build from

Every bride starts from one of these and we adjust at the trial. The notes tell you which one tends to suit which gown, venue light and photography style.

Bride with a luminous skin finish, soft brows and a warm neutral lip in natural daylight

Finish 01

Daylight Skin

Sheer, buildable base with warmth kept in the cheek rather than the contour. Best for garden and marquee weddings, and for brides who dislike the feeling of makeup.

Finish 02

Soft Definition

A stronger lash and a defined inner eye, with the base kept matte through the T-zone. Our most photographed look for church and chapel ceremonies under mixed light.

Finish 03

Long Day

Built for humidity, a first dance and a late sparkler exit. Longwear base, sealed lash line and a lip that is blotted rather than glossed. Touch-up card goes in your clutch.

Colour Story

For brides wearing a strong gown colour, a bold lip, or a second outfit. We plan two states in the trial so the change takes minutes rather than a full reset.

Schedule

How the morning actually runs

A typical 2:00pm ceremony with a bride and three attendants. Your running sheet is built backward from the photographer's first-look time, not from ours.

8–10 weeks before

Trial in the studio

We work in daylight, test two directions and photograph the result on your phone as well as ours. You leave with the base shade, lip name and lash style written down.

2 weeks before

Running sheet confirmed

We send the order of chairs, arrival time and what we need in the room: one window, one table and a chair without arms. You forward it to your photographer and planner.

8:30am

We arrive and set up

Fifteen minutes to lay out the kit and find the best light in the room. Attendants start first so nobody is waiting in a half-finished state.

9:00–11:00am

Attendants and family

Three faces, roughly forty minutes each with overlap between two artists. This is the window for coffee, steaming dresses and the first candid photographs.

11:00am–12:15pm

The bride

Skin prep, base, eye, lash and lip, finished with a setting pass sized to the forecast. We take a photograph in window light so you can see it as a camera will.

12:15–12:45pm

Gown, veil and final check

We stay through dressing to blot, re-set the lip and clear anything that transferred. Your touch-up card is packed into the clutch before we leave.

Practicalities

Questions brides actually ask

Do I have to do a trial?
For the bride, yes — it is how we match your base in daylight and agree the finish before the day. Attendants do not need one. If you are planning from another city we can run the trial on the two days before the wedding instead, which works but leaves less room to change direction.
When should I book the trial?
Eight to ten weeks out is ideal: late enough that your skin and hair colour are close to the day, early enough that we can reorder a product or retest a lash. Booking the trial is also what holds your date in the calendar.
What should I do to my skin beforehand?
Keep it boring. Stop introducing new actives about four weeks out, book any facial at least three weeks before, and avoid fresh self-tan in the final week — it changes your base shade after we have matched it. We send a one-page note after the trial.
How long do you need on the day?
Seventy-five to ninety minutes for the bride, and roughly forty minutes per additional face. With four or more faces a second artist comes so the schedule holds. We would rather finish early and sit quietly than rush the last twenty minutes.
Will it hold in heat and humidity?
That is what the Long Day finish is for. We adjust the base and setting pass to the forecast, seal the lash line, and blot rather than powder the lip. Expect to press the lip once after dinner; everything else should stay put.
Do you travel, and is it extra?
Travel inside the city and the coastal towns to the north is included. Further out we quote mileage, and if the morning would start before a safe drive time we include a night's accommodation in the quote so there is no surprise.
Can you work with sensitive skin or allergies?
Yes. Tell us at the enquiry stage and we will bring fragrance-free and latex-free alternatives to the trial, patch-test anything new on the jaw, and note what we used so your own routine can match it.
What if our date or numbers change?
Numbers can move up to two weeks before — we only need to know in time to confirm a second artist. If the date itself changes we will move your booking to any open date at the original rate; if nothing is open we refund the retainer in full.
